Castello di Ama
Description
Located in the heart of Chianti Classico, between Siena and Florence, Castello di Ama is a prestigious winery that combines tradition, innovation and contemporary art. Its roots go back to the 18th century, when Grand Duke Peter Leopold of Habsburg-Lorraine, during a visit in 1773, praised Ama’s hills and valleys as “the most beautiful in all of Chianti.”
In 1976, four Roman families decided to restore the estate to its former glory, investing in the renovation of the vineyards and the construction of a new winery equipped with state-of-the-art technology. A few years later, winemaker Marco Pallanti joined the company, contributing significantly to its growth and affirmation in the international wine scene.
The farm now covers about 230 hectares, 75 of which are planted with vineyards and 40 with olive groves, located at an average altitude of 480 meters above sea level.
The vineyards are divided into four prestigious basins: Bellavista, San Lorenzo, La Casuccia and Montebuoni for a total annual production of about 320,000 bottles that includes Chianti Classico, Gran Selezione and IGT appellations.
Currently, Castello di Ama is managed by Lorenza Sebasti and Marco Pallanti together with their son Arturo, who continue to carry on the vision of excellence and innovation that characterizes the company.
