Olek Bondonio

Olek-Bondonio

Description

Nestled in the heart of Barbaresco, Olek Bondonio’s La Berchialla winery is a small jewel of tradition and authenticity. Born in Turin to a Polish mother, Olek spent his childhood summers on his grandfather’s estate in Barbaresco, where he developed a deep connection with the land and its vineyards. After years of experience in renowned wine regions around the world, from France to Oregon, New Zealand to Australia, Olek returned to his roots, taking over the historic family farmhouse in 1999.

With a vineyard area of about 2 hectares, production is deliberately restrained and artisanal. The vineyards, largely inherited from his father and once managed by iconic entities such as Gaja and the Produttori del Barbaresco, are located in some of the best exposures in the area.

Olek’s philosophy is rooted in respect for nature and terroir: no pesticides in the vineyard, low yields and natural winemaking that enhances the most authentic expression of the grapes. Fermentations take place with indigenous yeasts, and the wines undergo no filtrations or clarifications, with minimal and targeted use of sulfites.

His signature wine is Barbaresco Roncagliette, an elegant and profound expression of Nebbiolo, but the range also includes other labels that tell of his vision and love for this corner of Piedmont.

Each bottle signed by Olek Bondonio is an invitation to discover the genuine character of Barbaresco and the soul of a small business that works in respect of tradition, always looking to the future.
