PoggiodiSotto

Description

Azienda Agricola Poggio di Sotto is a prestigious winery located in Castelnuovo dell’Abate, in the municipality of Montalcino, Tuscany. Founded in 1989, the winery is renowned for producing high quality wines, particularly Brunello di Montalcino.

The vineyards are located on hillsides ranging from 200 to 400 meters above sea level, benefiting from a favorable microclimate due to the protection of Mount Amiata and the influence of sea breezes.

Since 2011, Poggio di Sotto has been part of the ColleMassari family, which has continued the tradition of excellence in wine production.

The winery follows organic farming practices, with a yield limited to 30-35 quintals per hectare, achieved through rigorous manual selection of grapes. Fermentation takes place spontaneously in 70 hl truncated wooden vats, with long macerations and frequent pumping over. Aging takes place in 30 hl Slavonian oak barrels, followed by bottle aging.

Poggio di Sotto is recognized for its attention to quality and respect for tradition, producing wines that best express the terroir of Montalcino and the noble soul of Sangiovese.
