Casanova di Neri

Casanova di Neri

Description

Casanova di Neri was born in 1971 thanks to the vision of Giovanni Neri, a grain and seed merchant with a great passion for wine who was determined to turn a dream into reality: to produce a great Italian red wine.

Attracted by the austerity and uniqueness of Sangiovese in Montalcino, Giovanni purchased Podere Casanova, a 200-hectare property located east of the town, seeing in its geological and climatic characteristics the potential to create a Brunello of the highest quality.

From the earliest years, John worked with dedication to improve existing vineyards and plant new ones, laying the foundation for a wine production that would soon achieve international fame. In 1977 the winery bottled its first wine, a Rosso di Montalcino, followed the next year by its first Brunello, the famous “Etichetta Bianca.” The acquisition of vineyards such as Cerretalto and, later, Pietradonice and Podernuovo, marked a further step in the quest for winemaking perfection, with wines born from unique terroirs that express the essence of Montalcino.

After Giovanni Neri passed away in 1991, his son Giacomo took the reins of the company, carrying on his father’s vision with passion. Under his leadership, Casanova di Neri has continued to expand and innovate, winning prestigious international awards and becoming a benchmark for Brunello di Montalcino. Among the most significant achievements, the Brunello “Tenuta Nuova” was named “Wine of the Year” by Wine Spectator magazine, and the Cerretalto received top marks from leading industry critics.

Today, Casanova di Neri continues to be a family business, led by Giacomo and his sons Giovanni and Gianlorenzo, who work together to keep the commitment to excellence alive. After more than 50 years, Casanova di Neri is not only a world-renowned producer of Brunello, but also a symbol of the passion, care and love for the land that characterize Montalcino.
