Giuseppe Quintarelli
Description
The name Giuseppe Quintarelli evokes one of the greatest legends of Italian wine. For decades a symbol of Valpolicella’s artisanal excellence, the winery, located in the Negrar valley at the heart of the Classico area, stands as an undisputed benchmark for those who seek authenticity, depth, and poetry in the glass.
The origins of the Quintarelli family date back to the early 1900s, but it was with Giuseppe, known as “Bepi,” that the winery achieved extraordinary fame. With an unmistakable style built on discipline, patience, and profound respect for nature, Quintarelli transformed the very concept of Amarone, elevating it from a traditional farmer’s wine to one of the finest expressions of winemaking in the world.
His philosophy is founded on a simple yet radical principle: no compromise on quality. Every grape cluster is hand-selected, every fermentation follows its natural rhythm, and each wine matures for years in large casks before being released. Time is not dictated by the market, but by the wine itself.
The Quintarelli wines, from the Valpolicella Classico Superiore to the majestic Amarone della Valpolicella Classico, are now regarded as liquid works of art—dense, complex, and endowed with a vitality and depth that allow them to transcend decades. Even Giuseppe’s sweet wines and rare experiments, such as the Recioto or the Alzero Cabernet, reflect his boundless curiosity and his ability to innovate while remaining true to the most authentic traditions.
After Giuseppe’s passing in 2012, the family, led by Lorenzo, Francesco, and Fiorenza Quintarelli, has continued with the same devotion to carry forward the legacy of a man who taught the world that wine is not made only from grapes, but from time, patience, and soul.
Today, the Quintarelli winery remains a sanctuary of Italian wine, a place where craftsmanship and spirituality meet, and where every bottle tells the story of the quiet greatness of a name that never needed fanfare to become a legend.
